DIY VINTAGE BOOK PUMPKIN
This DIY was inspired by a Pinterest find of a DIY Antique Book Pumpkin! I have recently created a little reading nook in my bedroom and it instantly spoke to me! I absolutely needed to create a more vintage version! Below I will provide you with the directions and creative process of how to create this cute vintage pumpkin to garnish your beautiful farmhouse home!

DIY VINTAGE PUMPKIN DIRECTIONS
Materials:
-Vintage Book (I found mine at a local book shop, but don't worry if you don't have access to a shop of your own. I found some on Amazon!)

The tiny pink peonies that I bought were in the wedding floral section at Hobby Lobby, I couldn't find them online but they were $1.99!
-Birch Stick

-Ribbon of your choice: I used Twine!
-Hot Glue
-Scissors
-Mug, Bowl or Plate to Trace
-Pen

Step 1: Grab your book and rip off both the front and back covers as well as the outside binding!

Step 2: Trace a half circle on the front of the cover! I used a smaller Rae Dunn plate but if you are wanting a smaller pumpkin, a coffee cup is perfect! I would recommend drawing a straight line at the bottom of your circle. This will help the pumpkin stand up straight when it is finished!

Step 3: Grab about 3-5 pages and cut along the traced lines. Once you have cut the first couple of pages, this will now act as your stencil. Continue to cut 3-5 pages at a time using the first page as a template to cut your half circle. Continue this until the full book is cut out into a half circle shape! I decided to flatten out the bottom, so my pumpkin would stand firm!

Step 4: To make your pumpkin fluffy and voluminous, fold one page into the center of the pumpkin. Then keep the next page straight and pointing out. Alternate each page following this pattern, one folded in, one straight out until you fully complete a circle around the entire pumpkin. In other words every other page should be folded! To make the page stay I made a soft crease along the rim of the page.

Step 5: Glue the birch log onto the center of the pumpkin with hot glue. I held the log onto the pumpkin for 1-2 minutes to make sure it could stand on it's own. To make sure it is really glued on well you can gently lift the pumpkin by the stem making sure your book is attached well!

Step 6: Glue on your accents! I tied a twine ribbon around my stem and glued on some flowers from Hobby Lobby!
If you decide to create this cute little pumpkin, please feel free to share it with me! I would love to see your beautiful creations and feature you on my instagram or blog!
